We Want to Hear From YOU!

July 8, 2016

We want to hear from you! If you've jumped on the bandwagon, you can inspire others to do the same. Whether you're a personal trainer or play Wii Fit with your kids, you're part of the family fitness revolution. If you've made fitness a priority for you and your family, we want to know about it. I want to feature your story, your successes, challenges and tips.

All you have to do is answer these questions and email the answers to jennys@macaronikid.com. Please send a photo we can use, too.

Can't wait to hear from you and be inspired by YOUR story!

What is your name and what town are you from?

My name is Erica Martin. We live in Saltillo, MS.

Who makes up your family?

My family includes my husband Michael, 12-year-old Ava, and 2-year-old Paisley.

Briefly, tell us your struggles.

Like many families, we struggled with balancing our busy schedules and making time to prepare and eat healthy meals. Between work and after school activities, fitness was not a priority.

What was the turning point that made you change the way you care for yourself?

In 2013, with a break in the cheer season, I signed my 9-year-old up for Crossfit Kids. I was pregnant at the time and watched in amazement at the athletes working out there. I promised myself after I had the baby that I would become one of those athletes and I did! I completed a strict paleo challenge called the Whole30 through the gym that made me learn how to cook and prepare real foods. It also taught me the effects of sugar on the body and how much better you feel without it!

Anything else you would like to add?

I am still currently a member of Crossfit and have lost 85 pounds and counting. My 12-year-old is active in Cross Country and competitive cheer, and my 2-year-old loves her gymnastics class and running with mama! We also love to utilize the Tanglefoot Trail for riding bikes. Clean eating and fitness has forever changed our family! Check out my journey on my Instagram @eat.lift.teach.
