Circus Fun For Everyone!

April 10, 2015
As parents, we are always looking for ways to keep our kids active, build strength and endurance but to also have fun. It turns out that sometimes, the best activities are clowning around, literally!

Last week I took my daughters, (7 and 5) to New York City to visit family. While we were there, they did a circus class at Aerial Arts NYC. Once the class was over, they immediately asked if they could do it again next week, or even the next day! (Sadly, we had to drive home to Ohio the next day.) They learned how to juggle, balance on a ball, hula hoop and some basic skills in a hammock.

Circus no longer belongs just under the Big Tent. It is part of the mainstream now and just as pop singers are becoming aerialists, grown-ups and kids alike can now learn just about any circus talent they want. Learning circus arts takes concentration, strength, flexibility and patience, things we all could work on.

Aerial Arts NYC provides classes for all ages and all skill levels. You can choose to do aerial classes in the air (silks, rope, lyra, static trapeze...) or on the floor (handstands, juggling, contortion, acrobatics, hula hooping and even unicycling!).

I'm delighted that my kids had so much fun and will be keeping an eye out for similar classes in our town!
