Your Family Kitchen: Struggles

By Jenny Steadman October 9, 2015
You guys aren't the only ones looking for suggestions and support.

If you read this newsletter regularly, you know I work hard to keep our house full of clean, healthy food and to keep us moving. But, as someone who has been working at this for a long time and has made so many strides in our household, even I get discouraged.

This is me telling you we are all in the same boat. We are all trying to do our best and make it through they next week, the next day, even the next meal!

My 5-year-old, who lived solely on grains and cheese for a few years, started to try new things (and liked them!) about a year ago. We had her eating chicken, broccoli, corn and steak and now she says, "I don't know why, but I don't like them anymore."

I'm all about making food a non-issue. I believe if you start a fight about eating vegetables, the kids will only see that they have a battle to win and won't actually listen to your words. So, here we are again.

To all of you out there caring for children and raising healthy adults, I send you patience, peace and another meal without a fight. This, like most things, doesn't last forever.
