What is your name and what town are you from?

Sarah Stabio from Denver

Who makes up your family?

My husband Brad and our three kiddos: Oliver (8), Phoebe (5) and William (2).

Briefly, tell us your struggles.

Two years ago we moved from southeast Denver to northeast Denver after building a new home in Stapleton’s Conservatory Green neighborhood. As a mom of three, it was hard enough to find an hour for my favorite workout most days, but moving added another hour in commute time. After having my second child, I fell in love with barre fitness classes in Cherry Creek, attending four days each week, even throughout my third pregnancy. I became a Bar Method addict and love the never-ending challenge that the full-body, intense workouts bring. I used to be an avid gym-goer, but now I find group classes are what I need to be motivated.

What was the turning point that made you change the way you care for yourself?

I was surprised there wasn't already a dedicated barre studio in Stapleton and loved the idea of bringing something I had become so passionate about to my new neighborhood and community.

Early in 2015, I began the process of taking my love for barre fitness to the next level. I became a Bar Method franchisee and earlier this year completed my instructor certification. Bar Method is a pioneer in the barre fitness industry with a long 15-year heritage and more than 95 studios located across the nation.

I will be bringing Colorado’s third Bar Method to Stapleton; we have secured a lease in The Shops at Northfield and will open winter 2017. My team and I have been offering classes in a temporary studio since January. We love teaching the Method to students and helping them find a workout that challenges them and brings results.

My family has been a large part of the decision to become a small business owner. My husband has been very supportive, even letting me test out my teaching on him early on. My kids are always excited to help clean up the studio, line up mats and even pile them up high to make their own obstacle course or jumping hill. I love when I’m getting ready for a workout and my two year old says, "going to teach a class, mommy?"

Anything else you would like to add?

My favorite part of being a new studio owner and teacher, is students pulling me aside after class to tell me how the Bar Method Denver-Stapleton has helped them in their lives ... everything from strength, confidence, inches lost, pounds lost and gained motivations and health. Seeing clients working hard in class and pushing themselves is the biggest inspiration for me!
