Family Fitness - Round 2!

Awareness...and Cupcakes!

By Kiley Sabatino November 16, 2011

We hope you enjoyed your first-ever Macaroni Kid Family Fitness Newsletter and glad you came back for more!  This month, we're serving you double the tips, inspiration, and challenge, so get ready!  Together, we're going to sail (run, bike...) right through this holiday season and jump into January even healthier, happier, more confident....and MORE FIT than ever!  Who's with me?!

Not to say you can't enjoy the turkey, the stuffing, and the pie.  You should enjoy every last bite!  Part of being fit is being in-tune with your body, being mindful about what you put in, and what you work out.  Doesn't the food always taste better when you slow-down and let yourself savor each bite rather than inhaling the half-eaten granola bar on the way to pick up the kids because you forgot about lunch?

Something we can all stand to work on a little is our awareness.  Awareness of the little things that make us happy, or unhappy, awareness of how we treat others, awareness of our personal struggles, what brings them on, and what fights them off...awareness of how we feel after making healthier choices, like drinking more water and less of everything else.  Awareness of the world around us.  Awareness of the monumental effect we have on our kids and the people they grow up to be. Awareness of crucial (physical and emotional) growth-periods and lessons that'll stick with them forever.

So, this month, we're focusing on self-awareness, being a good fitness role model for our kids, living, thinking, doing "outside the box," of society's norms, and yes, the simple act of drinking more water!  From the little changes to the big ones, it's all important.

Oh, and in case all of this touchy-feely inspirational stuff isn't your thing, we've got the good hard facts and to-the-point advice too.  Haven't heard of the "cupcake trick?"  Worried that your kids don't eat enough protein?  Try making our "Breakfast Cupcakes" featured below - a healthy, protein-packed snack for any time of the day...and if you call it a "cupcake," trust us, it will get eaten :-)

Happy Turkey Day!  Here's to hydration...and happiness!
