Sleep Deeper: Reassurance

October 11, 2013
Raise your hand if you can't remember the last time you didn't wake up with an extra body in your bed. We have a 6 and a 3.5 year old and we have been battling this for years. On the rare occasion we wake up and it is only my husband and me in bed, we rejoice, spread out and go back to sleep!

My girls claim that they get lonely and that is why they come in our room. We put them in the same room which seems to help, unless one of them leaves, then the other gets lonely, and this happens almost every night. They miss us. Days are busy and night time is a chance to cuddle up and get some mom and dad time. For some people this works. For us, it doesn't. No one sleeps well!

You know those little notes you can buy to put in your kid's lunch box? Well, the folks at Lunchbox Love have created ones for middle-of-the-night check ins and we have them right here for you to download and print right now! I plan to print them on card stock and try leaving them in a spot my daughters will see if they wake up at 3 a.m. and need to see mom. With a little reassurance that I have checked on them and given an extra kiss, maybe it will help them go back to sleep in their own beds.

Then we will all sleep better. A rested family is a much happier and healthier family.

Give it a try and let me know if it helps you!
