I want to feature your story, your successes, challenges and tips.

All you have to do is answer these questions and email the answers to jennys@macaronikid.com. Please send a photo we can use, too.

Can't wait to hear from you and be inspired by YOUR story!

What is your name and what town are you from?

Kara from Yorba Linda, CA

Who makes up your family?

My fiancé, me and our 6-month-old son Cameron.

Briefly, tell us your struggles.

I struggled with weight throughout my childhood until I was a freshman in high school. I played sports from the time I was 4-years-old but I was also the kid who ate what everyone else didn't finish on their plate.

What was the turning point that made you change the way you care for yourself?

I was 14-years-old and weighed nearly 200 pounds. I always got made fun of and had very few friends. Growing up in a small town in Missouri, it made life very difficult and lonely to be overweight. I decided right before my freshman year of high school that I no longer wanted to be the "fat kid."

Anything else you would like to add?

I've taught group exercise for 24 Hour Fitness for 5 years and I also lift weights and do cardio 5-6 days a week. I ran cross country for Santiago Canyon College a few years ago while also running 8 marathons between 2012 and 2013.

Fitness has been my whole life since I was in high school and I continue to love to push myself to my most extreme limits. I worked out every day of my pregnancy and was still squatting 225 pounds until the day before I went to the hospital to have our son.

After having a c-section, I was back to running 2 weeks later and back in the gym 6 weeks later. I truly think my dedication to healthy eating and a great workout routine was the key to my quick recovery. I lost the baby weight within a few weeks after I gave birth and continue to shape my body even better than before I was pregnant.

I'm a huge believer that you can accomplish anything you put your mind to doing. I was never a runner and one day said "I want to run a marathon." The next day, I was out on my first marathon training run. Through all the sleepless nights with the baby, I've still managed to hit the gym every day even after 3 a.m. feedings with little to no sleep. It's not just the results that drive me, but the feeling I get from a great workout. Dedication and motivation is what keeps me going.
