We Want to Hear from YOU!

April 14, 2017

We want to hear from you! If you've jumped on the bandwagon, you can inspire others to do the same. Whether you're a personal trainer or play Wii Fit with your kids, you're part of the family fitness revolution. If you've made fitness a priority for you and your family, we want to know about it. I want to feature your story, your successes, challenges, and tips.

All you have to do is answer these questions and email the answers to jennys@macaronikid.com. Please send a photo we can use too.

Can't wait to hear from you and be inspired by YOUR story!

What is your name and what town are you from?

Who makes up your family?

Briefly, tell us your struggles. What was the turning point that made you change the way you care for yourself?

How have you implemented (or plan to) your new habits with your family?

This month's story is brought to you by Enna.

Hello! My name is Enna and I am 40 years old. I’m a cervical cancer survivor, wife, mother of 3, Licensed Massage Therapist, Certified Personal Trainer and Fitness Nutrition Specialist.

I’ve lost a total of 80 pounds with proper nutrition and consistent exercise. Making my health a priority literally saved my life. My daily struggle is finding the balance and discipline between loving food, hating exercise and trying to fit everything into my busy schedule. My passion is in helping to motivate and educate others to get (and stay) fit and lead a healthy lifestyle. I was (and am still) an extreme foodie and hated to sweat, so I knew changing my mindset and habits would be hard. I knew myself well enough to know that I needed a fitness and meal schedule and that I couldn't make it up on my own because I would make excuses.

My first step was to find a body that I wanted to look like. I had no interest in admiring a 20-something model/actress who never had children, who was naturally thin and never knew the struggle of wanting a donut in the middle of the night without fearing it was going straight to the hips. I found a 35-year-old woman on Pinterest who had children and touted that her lean body was thanks to the Jamie Eason LiveFit 12 week program on bodybuilding.com

I looked it up and read both her and Jamie's story. They were like me! The program gave me a free workout and portion controlled meal plan that was easy to follow. I liked that there was no guesswork, so I committed to the 12 week plan. I already knew what it felt like to give up; I wanted to see what it would be like if I actually followed through with it. That first 12 months I lost 20 pounds. It was the catalyst that had me googling more workouts and meal plans. In doing so, I found I had a passion for finding and creating healthy versions of all of my favorite comfort foods and sweets. My 11-year-old daughter loves helping me bake and cook new healthy treats and we use my husband as a taste tester.

Last year I started competing in the Reebok Spartan races in which my husband and daughter also participate. We love finding new fitness activities to do as a family. Getting healthy literally saved not only my life, but has enriched my home as well.
