What is your name and what town are you from? Kelly Enfield from North Bend, WA

Who makes up your family? Husband, 3-year-old son, Weston and 6-year-old black lab dog

Briefly, tell us your struggles. My vision of being a mom was being active with our son. I dreamed of hiking, long summer walks and outings. When he was born, it was the complete opposite of what I pictured. I was exhausted, living off 9 shots of coffee a day and just waiting until the next time I could sleep.

What was the turning point that made you change the way you care for yourself? When my son was 3 months old, a friend checked in and asked me a few pointed questions that made me realize I wasn't fueling my body to be the mom I wanted to be. I started making small changes in my nutrition, substituting protein shakes for breakfast, and eating more lean protein. Little by little, I started going for long stroller walks, then started running again and hiking with my little guy. I started to have the energy to get up early to exercise and have some "me time" so our time together was more intentional. I had become a more focused and happy mom and wife.

How have you implemented (or plan to) your new habits with your family? My husband and I just completed a half marathon together (while training with our little one) and I am running my first full marathon in two weeks. We bike together pulling Weston in the trailer and love getting out in the woods as a family. This is the motherhood journey I had envisioned!
