Home Chef Meal Kit Review

By Jenny Steadman March 6, 2018

Product was provided to me for review; however, opinions are strictly my own.

Raise your hand if meal planning is the way to save your dinner sanity. Now raise your hand if you keep forgetting to make a meal plan. Yep, that's where I am, too. When I was given the opportunity to try out Home Chef, a meal kit service that helps you make dinner decisions and sends ingredients straight to your door, I couldn't say no!

Ordering was as simple as you could hope. When I signed up for Home Chef, I was able to give our family's dietary preferences, how many people are in our family (four) and how many dinners we want per week (2 nights). Very quickly, I learned how Home Chef would help me save time by skipping the grocery store and create delicious, (kid-friendly!) home-cooked meals in just about 30 minutes.

When our box arrived, we were excited to see what was inside and how everything was packed. Each meal is pre-portioned into bags of ingredients and I was happy to see that the meat was packaged separately from the other items. Also included are meal cards with ingredient lists, cooking instructions and a recommendation on how long you can wait to cook each meal. (That way you don't leave something in the refrigerator for too long!)

Cooking was a piece of cake. With all of the ingredients for a particular meal grouped together, I simply needed to wash and cut the vegetables, and get cooking. We tried the Tex-Mex Steak Sandwich and Salmon with Dill Crema. Both were a hit in our household!

Home Chef makes it easy to mix up your dinner routine. Each week you can choose from 14 different weekly recipes including gluten-free and vegetarian options (Home Chef also provides more weekly options than Blue Apron and Plated!)
